New Workshop Offering

Appraisal Worskshop-Fine tuning your appraisal skills.
Fine tune your appraisal skills under the guidance of an experienced appraiser and instructor. Bespoke classes are available to work on the areas most required by jewellery appraisers. Starting with tips and technique for identifying mounted gems, understanding construction of mounts, researching and completing documents.
Booked on a desire to learn basis at an hourly rate- you can book as little as 2 hour session (minimum class) or continue booking classes as desired.

During the 2 hours we explore the terms used to describe diamonds and how to describe them in a more consumer friendly way. This course is about how to interpret the technological terms so that you understand the differences in diamonds. IT IS NOT A GRADING COURSE! Be informed when buying or selling a diamond. This two-day workshop gives the retail jewellery associates the information you need to start closing more diamond sales. Learn the 4Cs and how to apply them to emphasise the value of your diamonds. Understand Diamond Grading Reports and translate your product knowledge into sales. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Practical Diamond Grading

Next course offerings- Monday January 6-Friday January 10, 2025 (10-5pm daily with1 hour for lunch ), Monday-Friday, September 22-26, 2025, 10-5pm daily

This popular five day course is designed to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skill required to grade colourless, brilliant cut diamonds. 12 hours of theory and 18 hours of practice makes The Language of Gems diamond grading course a must for anyone looking to develop skill and confidence in evaluating round brilliant diamonds. Students will use a loupe and a microscope to grade diamonds using the standard international system based on GIA grading. Class sizes are small to ensure each student receives the guidance they need from our professional instructors. Upon successful completion of a multiple choice written and practical test the student will receive receive the The Language of Gems Practical Diamond Grading Certificate.

Personal learning and fun combine when looking at gems. Gain knowledge and practical experience as we learn how to use some basic instruments with coloured gems. Learn how lustre, dispersion , hardness can be used by the consumer to aid in identifying the quality of gems. Spend 4 1/2 hours having an interesting enjoyable day. Small classes ensure the personal touch with an experienced instructor of over 25 years in gemmology.

Gemmology Workshop

Course offerings next year: Please contact me for special dates available. 25 hours for in depth learning. Scheduled for Saturday & Sundays May 10-11, 17-18 & 24, 5 hours per day, Monday- Friday June 2-June 6, 2025, 5 hours per day.

You will not become a gemmologist with this workshop, but it will give you a wide depth of information about working with gems. It is 25 hours of learning, fun and hands on enjoyment in a personalized setting. One on one consultation is available. Be more informed when going to purchase your next gem. This can also be a good study course before exams or for the gemmologist who wants to refresh their skills.

Flexible time and dates may be available as I know how busy life gets. It doesn’t have to be completed all at once.
